The Story Behind Color Connection
Erica Cadogan, Executive Director
Genesis Community Foundation, Montreal
About the Founder
Color Connection grew from nearly two decades of community work supporting seniors, families, and vulnerable populations.
As Executive Director of the Genesis Community Foundation in Montreal, Erica has spent much of her career creating programs that help people feel supported, connected, and seen.
Through this work she witnessed how often caregivers search for activities that feel respectful, calming, and appropriate for people living with dementia. Too often, the options available create pressure rather than comfort.
Color Connection was created to offer something different, simple, thoughtfully designed experiences that help caregivers and their loved ones share moments of calm, creativity, and connection.

Why Color Connection Was Created
Color Connection reflects a philosophy that has guided Erica’s work for many years, meaningful activities should reduce pressure rather than create it.
Small design choices can make a powerful difference. Clear visual structure, familiar imagery, and gentle creative engagement can help people living with dementia participate without feeling overwhelmed.
Rather than focusing on performance or completion, Color Connection focuses on presence. The goal is to support moments that feel calm, respectful, and shared.
A Project Rooted in Care
Color Connection is not separate from Erica’s community work. It grows from the same values that have shaped her career: listening carefully, designing thoughtfully, and creating opportunities for connection.
The project continues to evolve with the same intention that guided its beginning, helping caregivers and their loved ones experience moments of calm, dignity, and meaningful connection.
